Producing Podcasts

with trainers Dougal Perman and Amanda Mitchell

How do you get your audience to lend you their ears and listen to your story?

Podcasts can be immediate, engaging and effective. And once you get your audience hooked, you can captivate them and communicate efficiently in a personal manner.

This practical hands on session from expert trainers Dougal Perman and Amanda Mitchell of Inner Ear is designed for anyone who is responsible for producing content, contributes to a content strategy and wants to add podcasts to their marketing arsenal. Drawing on case studies from relevant and inspiring cultural work, you will learn what makes a good podcast, consider how each episode will help your series develop and craft your story arc to appeal to your audience.

Working in groups, participants will be challenged to devise a creative response to a podcast brief. There will also be a practical element in which each group will record, edit, publish and present their own sample podcast episode.

At this session you will:

• Be inspired by effective podcast serials
• Evaluate different podcast formats
• Find out what tools you need to produce professional podcasts
• Work together to respond to a creative brief
• Get hands on experience of recording, presenting, interviewing, editing and publication

This is the second in the series of five Know How sessions from Culture Republic, providing practical insights for content marketers. Look out for future workshops covering blogging, Instagram and more.
