The strategic force behind Culture Republic, Julie is a leading figure in the development of cultural audiences in Scotland and the former head of Culture Sparks and Glasgow Grows Audiences. A consummate marketer, trainer, business consultant and international presenter, Julie has an extensive background of senior management roles in industry, and has served on the boards of a wide range of cultural institutions.

Charlotte Wilson — Associate Director —
With a degree in marketing and finance, a wealth of quantitative and qualitative research experience and an Associate membership of the Market Research Society, Charlotte has been a leading figure in the research teams of Culture Republic, Culture Sparks and Glasgow Grows Audiences since 2004. She has particular expertise in leading economic impact projects, and was project manager for The Source, the first national benchmarking project for the performing arts in Scotland.

Clair Gilchrist — Associate Director —
Clair has been at the forefront of the research team at The Audience Business and Culture Republic since 2007. With degrees in the History of Art & English Literature and Cultural Policy and Management, she is also an Associate member of the Market Research Society. Clair’s professional background is in specialist research within the UK’s arts and cultural sector, and she has first-hand experience of box office and marketing roles with a range of cultural organisations in Scotland.

Kathryn Ellaway — Senior Research Executive —
Kathryn’s extensive background in qualitative and quantitative research includes audience research for CNN and Irish broadcaster RTÉ, as well as consumer insight work and the management of continuous quantitative research for FMCG clients including Kellogg’s, Gillette, Vimto and Revlon.

Clare McAndrew — Senior Research Executive —
Prior to joining Culture Republic in 2014, Clare’s background in policy and environmental research includes work on impact assessments, socio-economic analyses and the development of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, as well as desk research and data evaluation. Clare has degrees in International Business and Modern Languages, and Translation Studies.

Alasdair Campbell — Web & Mobile Developer —
A former ‘Geek in Residence’ at Bodysurf Scotland through Creative Scotland’s Cultural Economy programme for 2012-14, Alasdair has a special interest in live-streaming of theatre performances as a means of reaching geographically diverse audiences. He is a computer science graduate and an experienced web and mobile developer, an IT consultant and a musician.

Paul Hanrahan — Marketing and Campaigns Manager —
With over 6 years of marketing for the financial and consultancy sectors, Paul comes to Culture Republic with a proven track record in business generation growth and strategy. He has significant experience with campaigns, lead generation, and analysis across digital and more traditional marketing platforms. With a keen interest in culture stemming from years of attending his father’s story telling events and his own love of poetry, Paul knows what organisations need to grow and spread their message. Ashley Smith Hammond — Manager, Knowledge, Networks & Learning —
Ashley has been working in and researching Scotland’s cultural sector for over 15 years, earning a PhD in dance and post-devolution Scottish cultural policy along the way. Ashley was project manager for AmbITion Scotland, the national digital development programme for arts and culture from 2009 to 2014 and is currently working on the Visual Arts Scotland pilot project. Ashley is part of Culture Republic’s communications team, writing and producing multi-media content – including the Culture Republic podcast.

Ela Zych-Watson — Partnership & Network Manager —
Ela's manages events & training, and Partnerships at Culture Republic. Her work in the Scottish cultural sector dates from 1992, when she worked with the Scottish Film Production fund and later Scottish Screen to create and manage national and international marketing, promotion and distribution campaigns for a range of award-winning Scottish-funded films, including international film festival & market exhibition, staging film premieres and organising film retrospectives around the world. She was the Director of Scotland’s first independent film sales and promotions company. She was Project Administrator for AmbITion Scotland and the Make:IT:Happen Fund.

Kirsty McKenzie — Finance & Administration Manager —
A natural problem solver with a creative streak, Kirsty manages all aspects of financial reporting, invoicing, contract and supplier management, IT and day-to-day operations at all Culture Republic’s locations. Her sharp commercial skills and attention to detail have been honed through operations roles in the worlds of international publishing and food importation.

With a background in arts marketing and research, Orion is a former research director and Audiences London and is currently undertaking a research fellowship and PhD studies relating to cultural participation and cultural opportunities. She has expertise in box office data analysis; primary research; online interactive mapping of cultural provision; cultural engagement, and population and infrastructure data.
