With professional experience gained throughout Scotland’s cultural sector and beyond, Culture Republic’s Board of Directors is made up of senior practitioners whose expertise and enthusiasm steers and supports the work of our organisation. Representing a range of backgrounds spanning operations, research, communications, artistic practice and senior management, they are each experts in their fields and contribute actively to the mission and vision of Culture Republic.

  • Sue Crossman —

    Having worked in the tourism and hospitality sector for 30 years Sue has extensive and impressive experience in the strategic development and growth of Scottish tourism. Sue believes that an enhanced engagement with Scotland’s cultural sector can benefit communities and individuals on many levels, including growth of the visitor economy.

  • Yvonne Dunn —

    Yvonne is Partner in law firm Pinsent Masons LLP. She specialises in IT procurement, outsourcing, software licensing, support and maintenance. Yvonne's focus is on the financial services industry but she works with clients across a wide variety of sectors. She also carries out legal work in the film production sector and is a member of BAFTA.

  • Jackie Killeen —

    As Director for Scotland of the Big Lottery Fund Jackie has responsibility for the development of operation and strategy of funding in Scotland. Jackie’s academic background is in literature and culture and before joining the Big Lottery Fund she worked in regeneration and in the arts.

  • Julie McGarvey —

    An expert in strategic communications with particular strengths in effective brand building and crisis and reputation management, Julie co-founded 3x1 Public Relations in 2001. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, former chair of CIPR Scotland and former advisor to the University of Stirling’s MSc in Public Relations.

  • Colan Mehaffey —

    Colan has more than a decade of digital experience in strategy and production roles for a variety of Government and not-for-profit clients. Since joining the National Trust for Scotland in 2008 he has delivered award-winning projects across multiple platforms and overseen transformational e-commerce growth. He has fostered ground-breaking relationships with industry leaders, such as Google, and was named as one of the key figures driving the nation's digital agenda in Scotland's 'Tech 100' 2015.

  • Brendan Miles —

    Brendan Miles is the Digital Business Director of The List, responsible for the ongoing development of the UK’s most comprehensive arts and culture website. A specialist in content monetisation and digital strategy, Brendan has more recently focused on large scale events data collection and distribution for a range of large public and private sector clients. Prior roles have come in music and publishing including heading Scotsman.com’s commercial operation.

  • Nick Parr —

    Nick has over 20 years experience in cultural management, specialising in business development, change management and marketing. He is the Chief Executive of the Dundee Rep Theatre and Scottish Dance Theatre. Prior to this, Nick was a member of the senior management team at the Festival City Theatres Trust.

  • Martin Reynolds  —

    Martin was Head of Marketing for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, responsible for ensuring Scotland’s largest ever sporting event met ambitious ticketing, volunteering & public engagement targets. He was awarded Marketer of the Year In 2014 by the Marketing Society. He has previously worked for the Edinburgh Festivals, Sydney Opera House and the National Galleries of Scotland. He now runs a consultancy, advising and supporting major events, festivals and cultural organisations.

  • Dr Robert Rogerson —

    Robert is Deputy Director of the Institute for Future Cities at the University of Strathclyde. He has worked for more than 25 years developing new ways of measuring less tangible aspects of community wellbeing, from quality of life to sustainable communities and event legacy, blending analysis of multiple data sets to help inform policy and to support local groups in their development. Robert also volunteers as an organiser for community athletic events in Scotland.

  • Professor Alan Wilson (Chair of the Board) —

    Currently a Professor of Marketing at the University of Strathclyde, Alan previously worked as a senior consultant for Marketing Improvements Ltd and as an Associate Director of Business Decisions Ltd. His expertise is in managing and measuring the customer experience in the areas of service delivery, reputation management, digital engagement and marketing research. The author of leading books in his field, he also acts as a trainer and advisor for many organisations.
